Dear friends and friends of friends,
Right now, refugee families from Gaza who were displaced by war are facing a multitude of challenges. Forced from their homes and homeland , they have lost almost everything – except for their incredible resilience and the hope for a better future for their children. Among them are those who are fighting an additional battle: cancer, chronic illness, disability and other health related issues. Many need urgent medical care, food, and a safe and stable place to live.
We are a small association of volunteers (mainly former aid workers and pharmacists) who come together to provide support to refugee families in need. During this Ramadan, we are collecting donations (including Zakat) in order to support refugees in Egypt access what should never be a privilege: Chemotherapy, cancer surgeries, mobility aids, and other urgently required assistance which is essential for their health and survival.
Beyond survival, we help refugee families and single mothers generate their own income by supporting them to set up or strengthen small business focusing on Tatreez (traditional embroidery) and Palestinian cuisine. By supporting such initiatives, we additionally aim to preserve and promote Palestinian culture, ensuring that important traditions like Tatreez continue to thrive and bring women together, even in times of displacement and dispossession.
